Faith Healing Parents Charged In Death
The parents of two year-old Kent Schaible have been charged with manslaughter for allowing their "faith healing" pastor to pray over the child, rather than seeking medical attention for his bacterial pneumonia, which could have been cured with simple antibiotics. The father is a teacher at First Century Gospel Church whose members believe in healing by prayer rather than medicine.
The FCGC website states: "Trusting God for health and healing is a vital and integral part of the true Christian life of faith"

Jesus Hates Foreskin
A Vancouver man has been found guilty of negligence for performing a home circumcision on his four year-old son after reading the book of Christian author Richard Hoskins, who says such a rite is demanded by the Bible. Telling his son that it would give him "extra special protection from God," the man performed the surgery using a non-sharp, non-sterile razor and a blood coagulant "meant for horses." Because it was cheaper than human coagulent.
Bonus: In 2005, the same man home-circumsized himself, resulting in unstoppable bleeding and an infection of his penis.

Pedo-Pastor Gets 10 Years
A former Southern Baptist pastor in Oklahoma, Joshua Spires, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after confessing to sexual abuse of a 15-year-old girl who attended his church.
Court documents said Spires sexually assaulted the girl, once a member of his youth group, every Sunday for a year at the church.
The girl told police that Spires began to tell her that he loved her when she was in seventh grade. After she broke off the relationship Spires began calling and sending her text messages threatening to commit suicide if she did not take him back.
