Saudi Arabia: A court in Saudi Arabia has sentenced a woman to 10 lashes for breaking the country's ban on female drivers. The woman, identified as Shaima Ghassaniya, was found guilty of driving in Jeddah in July.
News of the sentencing comes two days after Saudi King Abdullah announced that the kingdom’s women would have the right to vote and run in local elections — for the first time — in 2015

Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world to prevent women — Saudi and foreign alike — from driving. Though there is no written law keeping women from driving, religious rulings enforced by the police have the same effect as a ban. Women tend to rely on live-in drivers or male relatives for transportation.

Christian Heckler
A heckler called President Obama “the Antichrist” at a fundraiser in Los Angeles on Monday night before security dragged the man out.
“The end of ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ is the signature achievement of our time,” master of ceremonies Jesse Tyler Ferguson told the president and the crowd.
That’s when a bearded man standing in the front row near the stage began shouting.

The Rescheduled Rapture Is Approaching
Harold Camping, who predicted that 200 million Christians would be taken to heaven on May 21st, said that he felt so terrible when his doomsday message did not come true that he left home and took refuge in a motel with his wife. His independent ministry, Family Radio International, spent millions — some of it from donations made by followers — on more than 5,000 billboards and 20 recreational vehicles plastered with the Judgment Day message.
Harold Camping revised his apocalyptic prophecy, saying he was off by five months and the Earth actually will be obliterated on Oct. 21.
Mark your calendars and make arrangements for your pets. The end is near.

The Rain That Never Fell
Rick Perry appeared at Liberty University on September 14 and discussed the ways in which he feels his god has communicated with him.
"On the fifth day of August 1978 it rained 30 inches in 24 hours"
According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, the total precipitation that day for Abilene, one hour away from Paint Creek and the closest recording point, was 0.01 inches. In fact, the record rainfall for one day in Abilene is just 6.30 inches, and 37.22 inches is the record for an entire year.
The fires currently burning in Texas must be a message to "get out now...and go to Washington".

Bachmann: Don't Pass Obama's Plan
Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann said she felt "deeply disappointed" by the president's jobs speech Thursday and called on Congress to avoid passing his plan. Bachmann accused the President of "not listening" to the American people.
The Congresswoman then explained that she had not been able to attend the President's speech in person because of bad road conditions.
"I listened to it on the radio coming in and then I caught the tail end of it in my office."

The GOP Candidates On Climate Change And Evolution
Jon Huntsman's recent tweet on science might not stand out in some crowds: "I believe in evolution and trust scientists on global warming. Call me crazy," the former Utah governor wrote on Aug. 18. But among his fellow contenders for the Republican presidential nomination, Huntsman's declaration in support of both evolution and human-caused global warming made him an outlier. We compiled the Republican candidates' recent statements on climate change and evolution, and for comparison, included the consensus view among mainstream scientists and educators.
